Terms of use

The terms this site is offered on.

Written in plain English, because terms you cannot read are terms you cannot agree to. By using this site you accept them.

01 · Who we are

Understand Your Shadow is operated by People Work Life Ltd, a company registered in England, based in Ascot, United Kingdom. You can reach us at rob@peopleworklife.com or hello@understandyourshadow.com.

02 · What this is — and what it is not

This site offers reflective self-development work: assessments, written profiles, journalling tools, workshops, and training. None of it is therapy, counselling, medical advice, or a substitute for any of those. The assessments are reflective exercises, not clinical or diagnostic instruments — your results describe patterns worth noticing, not conditions, and they must never be treated as a diagnosis of yourself or anyone else. Using this site does not create a practitioner–client or clinical relationship of any kind.

03 · When to seek professional help

If you are in crisis, considering suicide, working with unresolved trauma, or struggling with addiction, this work is not the right tool and you should not rely on it. Please talk to your GP or a qualified professional, and see where to find support now for free, immediate services.

04 · You must be 18 or over

This site is for adults. By creating an account, taking an assessment, or joining a group assessment, you confirm that you are 18 or over.

05 · Your account and acceptable use

Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and give us accurate information. Do not use the site to attempt access to anyone else’s data, to disrupt the service, or for anything unlawful. If you run a group assessment, you are responsible for telling participants how their answers will be used — the join page tells them their individual answers are shared with you, and you must not undercut that honesty.

06 · Assessments, reports and content

Your results are yours to keep, share, or delete. The assessment content, written profiles, and everything else on this site are protected by copyright and provided for personal, non-commercial use. Do not present any result from this site as a clinical finding, and do not use the assessments to screen, select, or evaluate other people.

07 · Payments

Payments for workshops, training, and membership are processed by Stripe; the price and what it covers are shown before you pay. If something goes wrong with a payment, or you need to cancel a booking, write to us and we will sort it out — your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by anything in these terms.

08 · Liability

The site is provided as it stands, for reflection. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for decisions you take on the strength of an assessment result. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

09 · Changes

We may change or withdraw features, and we may update these terms; if a change matters, we will flag it on the site. The version published here is always the one that applies.

10 · Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute.
